We’re excited to share that we’re shifting our blockchain development from Avalanche’s HyperSDK to the Cosmos ecosystem. Over the course of building our chain, our vision has expanded significantly, and after thorough exploration, we’ve found that Cosmos aligns perfectly with these bigger goals.
Why the Change?
Our original plan focused on HyperSDK for its high throughput and minimal state storage. However, as our ambitions grew, we realized we needed a platform that could handle more complex data functionality and offer dependable tools right out of the box. Cosmos stood out with its stable modules, active developer community, and production-ready framework. Cosmos lets us aim higher without reinventing everything from scratch and reach our end goal much faster.
What Does Cosmos Offer?
- Proven Foundations: Cosmos is used by many live projects, meaning real-world feedback and fewer unexpected hurdles.
- Active Developer Community: We can tap into extensive documentation, support channels, and existing modules to streamline our work.
- Alignment with Our Goals: Integrating smart contracts, staking, and data-focused features has been straightforward, letting us concentrate on innovation rather than rebuilding infrastructure.
- Matured Ecosystem: Allows us to follow our roadmap predictably without significant delays and without dependency on Avalanche.
Timelines and Roadmap
Initially, we aimed for a mainnet release in Q4 2024, but shifting timelines in HyperSDK made that window difficult to hit. Continuing along that path would have pushed mainnet even further. By pivoting to Cosmos, our roadmap will be stable and predictable from now on. We’ve already built a proof-of-concept, and we’re targeting Q1 2025 for our testnet, followed by Q2 2025 for our mainnet launch.
Are We Losing Past Work?
Not at all. Our development on HyperSDK gave us invaluable insights into blockchain design and implementation. Much of that knowledge and many parts of our codebase carry over to Cosmos, speeding up our current development.
Looking Ahead
We remain grateful for the potential of HyperSDK and the strides Avalanche has made. Still, we believe Cosmos is the right choice for our expanded plans in the timelines needed for our success. We’re excited to roll out new features, launch our testnet, and keep you updated on our journey to mainnet.
