Highlights

  • Discussions at Dutch Blockchain Week emphasized the growing alignment between blockchain innovation and regulatory frameworks in Europe.

  • Ecosystem conversations focused on monetizing real-time data, enabling decentralized compute, and standardizing intelligent agent infrastructure.

  • The event highlighted a clear shift toward compliant, scalable, and interoperable systems built for the AI-powered data economy.

Dutch Blockchain Week 2025 underscored the Netherlands’ growing role as a nexus for digital asset innovation, regulatory leadership, and decentralized data infrastructure. Nuklai’s Head of Strategy, Gerben van den Bergh, represented the team across two days of rich dialogue, spanning from MiCAR implementation to institutional blockchain adoption.

Institutional interest and MiCAR move the conversation forward

A core theme across the event was Europe’s shifting regulatory landscape. Discussions around the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCAR) regulation featured key perspectives from the De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and ABN AMRO. The presence of these institutions highlighted increasing regulatory clarity — and with it, a growing openness toward blockchain and crypto adoption at the enterprise level.

Gerben’s conversation with ABN AMRO focused on how blockchain can support the secure and compliant use of data, with an emphasis on building more trustworthy and reliable data ecosystems. These discussions reflect a broader trend: institutions are not only exploring blockchain, they are actively seeking out solutions that emphasize accountability, transparency, and long-term scalability.

Ecosystem alignment and data-first innovation

The event also provided an opportunity to explore synergies with ecosystem players focused on data monetization, compute, and AI integration. Gerben spoke with Bitvavo and YOM on shared infrastructure goals, and connected with the CEO of Sourceful Energy about real-time environmental data as a monetizable asset class within decentralized systems.

At Vertical Studio AI, the conversation focused on integration opportunities within AI ecosystems, while discussions with Arnacon addressed the need for standardized frameworks for autonomous agents. An engaging exchange with Wow AI revealed strong alignment on the future of decentralized compute and how intelligent systems will rely on trusted, privacy-preserving infrastructure.

In addition to exploring new ideas, Dutch Blockchain Week was also an important moment to reconnect with current collaborators. Nuklai continues to work closely with Compilot and Reform DAO, who are already building within the ecosystem and contributing to the development of agent-enabled, decentralized data infrastructure.

Gerben also engaged with representatives from Cask Capital, Monflo, Marketvision Capital, Ripple, HVK Stevens, Crypto Signalen, and Crypto Insiders — alongside numerous crypto-native enthusiasts and members of the BCNL community. The participation of major exchanges and data-focused ventures underscored the event’s expanding reach and relevance across Europe’s blockchain landscape.

Looking ahead: trust, transparency, and the AI economy

Dutch Blockchain Week 2025 made one thing clear: the convergence of regulation, data infrastructure, and cross-industry collaboration is accelerating. From MiCAR readiness to ecosystem interoperability, the conversations held at DBW reflected a shared vision for a more transparent, compliant, and intelligent data economy.

Nuklai is proud to be part of this momentum, driving forward the infrastructure that will power trusted, agent-enabled systems in the age of decentralized AI.
